This area of the the park was used as an open air theatre for a number of years. In 1951, to celebrate the Festival of Britain it hosted the performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream. In June 2017, as part of the HLF project The Shakespeare rewired workshop took place to re-make A Midsummer Nights Dream. 

Historical significance

The Lime avenue of trees forms a natural amphitheatre leading to the open air theatre which opened in Kearsney Abbey in1951. Kearsney Abbey celebrated the Festival of Britain by hosting performances of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
