General update
With summer in full swing, we have plenty of great reasons to celebrate in the Kearsney Parks - including exciting news that the new-look play area is up and running in Kearsney Abbey.
The amazing new £155k facility was officially opened by Chairman of DDC Cllr Susan Beer on 17 July.
The newly designed play space incorporates a stand-out multiplay unit, with a variety of features including slides, tunnels, fireman’s pole, climbing walls and net seating. The space provides a range of equipment for children up to 14 years, with a particular focus on inclusive play equipment to cater for all abilities.
We are also celebrating excellent news that Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens have been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award for the sixth year running.
The Green Flag accreditation is an international quality mark for parks and green spaces and is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone caring for the parks.
Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens have met the quality standard every year since the completion of the £3.1m Parks for People project in 2021 with the National Lottery Heritage and Community Funds.
Russell Gardens update
A range of refurbishment works is being carried out on the bridges in Russell Gardens from Monday 10 August - the works, on the two Victorian bridges and the boathouse at the pond, are due to take around 15 weeks to complete.
The bridges will need to be fenced off while the works are undertaken, but the park remains open and there will still be access to the grounds and the play area in Russell Gardens. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
Kearsney Cafe update
The Kearsney café is open until 5pm. Please also note that the Blue Badge car park (immediately behind the cafe) closes at 6pm.
