General update

With all the rainfall over the winter months, it is good to see the lake in Bushy Ruff full again and the ornamental pond in Russell Gardens flowing well.

The Boat House Bridge in Russell Gardens is still having maintenance undertaken so the pathway that side is still blocked off.

The snowdrops and cyclamen are flowering in the park and the early flowering daffodils have already appeared. The bulbs that were planted by volunteers in November are also just beginning to show, and should make a lovely splash of colour when they bloom.

The café is open for both take away and eat in. It opens from 9am until 3.45pm.

Community Day/Easter Trail

On Wednesday 5 April, we are having a Community Day/Easter Trail.

As part of the Community Day, various Dover District Council teams, including the communities and environmental protection teams and the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership, will be on hand to talk to you and provide a range of help and information in the new Community Roots van.

There will also be a chance to help find Rabbit's friends who are hiding in the park, with an Easter Trail for all the family. To book on the trail, or for more information, please see the Kearsney Parks website.

Litter pick

As part of the Great British Spring Clean, there will be a litter pick in the parks on Wednesday 22 March, starting from the café in Kearsney Abbey, from 10am-12 noon.

DDC representatives will be on hand, helping volunteers, and ready to provide litter picking equipment, as well as information and games to help highlight the importance of tackling litter.

Kearsney Parks 2024 Calendar

We are now looking for photos for the 2024 calendar. If you have any photos that you feel will be suitable, please do sent them in. For us to display these photos the preferred format is landscape. Please email your photos to kearsney.parks@dover.gov.uk

Wildlife

Between November and April, the trout spawn in the river. Ensure you keep out of the river during this period so that the trout can be as successful as possible.

Please be aware of the birds as they begin their nesting season. There have been some recent attacks on the swans by dogs, so please remember that even though dogs are allowed off the lead on one side of the park, they must be under control at all times.

Volunteering at Kearsney Parks

Volunteering tasks have started up again in Kearsney Parks. We are continuing with general maintenance within the parks and on Coxhill Mount. If you are interested in volunteering, and would like to be put on our database, please get in touch at kearsney.parks@dover.gov.uk
