Park Bench project

Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens
Wednesday 1st (00:00) - Friday 31st August 2018 (00:00)

Do you write, paint or draw?

If so, the Park Bench project could be for you! This is part of Dover District Council’s Art in the Park – Kearsney interpreted project that is being delivered in partnership with Dover Arts Development (DAD).

From each park bench in Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens there is a different view. Equally, from every park bench each person’s view is different as they daydream, remember or become lost in the landscape.

What is required of you?

Using paper of a specific size, that will be supplied, each participant will contribute a drawing, painting, collage, piece of writing or poetry or combination of these, created while sitting on a park bench of their choice in Kearsney Abbey or Russell Gardens. The activities will take place on a mix of week days and weekends during July and August 2018 where materials will be supplied. You only need to come along to one of the sessions.

What do you get?

Your work will become part of a new moving image video work that will be premiered next year, streamed through Dover Arts Developments vimeo platform and from the Kearsney Parks website and it will be available for you to embed.

How do I become part of the project?

If you would like to apply, please send three examples of your existing creative work to DAD. This could be written word, poetry, drawing or painting. Please send the work either as JPEGs or presented in a PDF or word document, together with something written about yourself (150 words maximum) by June 30th to Please mark your email ‘Park Bench project’. The files should be no larger than 5MB in total.
