Works to start on installation of puffin crossing on Alkham Road

Kent County Council has advised us that works to install a puffin crossing on Alkham Road to provide safe pedestrian access between Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens will start on Monday, 30 September.

Works will include footway widening; kerb works; carriageway surfacing; street lighting improvements; additional and alteration to the existing bollards along with the associated signing, lining and signal equipment.

The works are expected to take five weeks to complete, generally working between the hours of 7.30am and 5pm Mondays to Saturdays.  Temporary traffic lights will be in place during the works, and will be manually operated during busy traffic periods to help reduce disruption and delay.

Funding for the pedestrian crossing has been secured from government funding via Kent County Council’s Local Transport Plan.
