Project Update June 2019
Works are continuing on the car park and café extension in Kearsney Abbey. Later this month, we will need to close the playground in Russell Gardens. This will allow the landscape contractors to set up their compound and carry out work in the park. We will put signs up in the park when this is due to happen. We apologise for any inconvenience but this is a necessary part of the project work. The playground in Kearsney Abbey will remain open.
Puffin crossing on Alkham Road
Kent County Council is proposing to install a puffin crossing on Alkham Road between Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens. A consultation on the proposals is open for comments until 24 June 2019. To find out more and to comment, please go to https://consultations.kent.gov.uk/consult.ti/Alkham_Road_Puffin_Crossing/consultationHome
We are currently evaluating the results of the Park and Ride trial that took place on the Spring Bank Holiday weekend (25-27 May).
While work is taking place in the park, there is limited parking available on site. Please think about using public transport, cycling or walking to the parks. If you do drive, please think about the nearby residents. Please park considerately, and do not block emergency access routes. Thank you.
Plants, butterflies and bees walk
Join us in Kearsney Abbey on Sunday 30th June, 11am – 1pm, for a ‘Find 30…plants, butterflies and bees walk’. You'll learn how to identify various animals and plants across the park, including Coxhill Mount which is at the top of a steep, narrow pathway. The walk is being led by Mel Wrigley from the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership. For more information, please go to www.kearsneyparks.co.uk/events
Big Tree Climb
There are just a handful of tickets left now for the Big Tree Climb in Kearsney Abbey on 29th June. Not to worry though – the Great Big Tree Climbing Company will be back again in the park on Saturday 14th September! To find out more, please go to our website at www.kearsneyparks.co.uk/events
