Project Update July 2017

There are more exciting events coming up over the next few months! Our events page is regularly updated at

Big Wildlife Survey

Join us in Kearsney Abbey this Saturday (22 July) from 1pm – 5pm for our Big Wildlife Survey! There’ll be guided walks around the park to find all the animals and plants that live there. There’ll be pond dipping too! The survey is one of the first events in Up on the Downs Big Summer Festival.

Bouncy castle

From Monday 24th July until Friday 28th July, celebrate the beginning of the summer holidays on a bouncy castle! It’ll be near the Cedar of Lebanon tree in Kearsney Abbey. It will cost £1 a go and each session will last for 5 minutes. Children under the age of 12 only will be allowed on the castle.

Kearsney Parks exhibition panels

From uncovering more about the history of the parks, to a range of events and the creation of beautiful textile panels, find out more about what we’ve been up to over the last year on our exhibition panels outside Kearsney Abbey café. They’ll be in place in August.

River Tales walk

Join River Tales on Sunday 30th July for a walk from Kearsney Abbey to Dover. There’ll be enchanting river tales along the way, ending in a performance by Dover Tales. The meeting point is outside Kearsney Abbey café at 1.30pm. The walk is 3.5 miles long and should take 2 hours. Please arrange your own way back to the start as the walk will end in Dover. Dogs on leads are welcome. If you have any queries please call 01304 241806.

Big Tree Climb

Following a sell-out visit to Kearsney Abbey in July, the Great Big Tree Climbing Company is returning to Kearsney Abbey on Saturday 16 September! If you fancy getting a different view of the trees, book on one of the hour-long sessions.

The activity is suitable for children aged 6 and over, and adults. You’ll be fitted with a harness and helmet, and always securely attached to a safety line.

Photography workshop

Our next free photography workshop will take place on Tuesday 5 September from 2pm – 4.30pm. The theme of the workshop will be 'Place and Belonging'. You’ll need to bring a camera or phone with you. There are only 12 spaces available, so if you would like to come along, please email to reserve a space. There will be more workshops later in the year.

Save the date

The next Kearsney Parks Forum meeting will take place in the café at Kearsney Abbey on Wednesday 6th September, from 6pm until 7.30pm. If you would like to get involved and help shape our plans for the project, please come along. Please email by Thursday 31st August if you’d like to attend.
